The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Senator David Mark, has urged Nigerians to join the party’s mission to build a better country, amid the economic hardships facing citizens.
Mark made the call in his New Year message to Nigerians, contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Kano by his Special Adviser on Media, Paul Mumeh.
He acknowledged that 2025 was a difficult year for many Nigerians, blaming the situation on the rising cost of living, food items, essential drugs and transportation.
The former Senate President criticised the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government over what he described as the “imposition of stringent taxes,” warning that such policies would only “renew hopelessness” among the people.
Mark said the ADC remained committed to patriotism and selfless service, urging Nigerians to put aside doubts and support the party’s vision for national renewal.
He expressed confidence in the collective power of Nigerians and the possibility of achieving a better future for the country.
According to him, “2025 was a tough year for most Nigerians.
“Yet, 2025 also brought a defining moment: the launch of Nigeria’s opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress on July 2.
“Since we announced the coalition, we have been encouraged by the overwhelming support and enthusiasm of ordinary Nigerians across the length and breadth of our country.
“We do not claim to be perfect, but do not doubt our sense of duty and our commitment to be on the good side of history.”
Mark said the ADC was determined to provide credible opposition and work towards restoring hope and good governance in Nigeria.
