The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has congratulated the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on his birthday, recalling their long years of political association and shared commitment to the development of the state.
In a birthday message issued on Monday, Kwankwaso reflected on his political journey with Yusuf, noting that the governor had served in several strategic capacities under different administrations.
He said Yusuf first worked with him as a personal assistant during his first term as governor and while he served as a minister, later as principal private assistant, and subsequently as a commissioner during his second tenure as governor, before emerging as the elected governor of Kano State.
According to Kwankwaso, Yusuf’s contributions in these various roles were instrumental to the vision and programmes pursued for the development of Kano State.
“On this day, I celebrate the birthday of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf. I reflect on the many years of our shared political journey, during which he served in various important capacities through which he contributed to the vision and programmes we pursued for the development of Kano State,” he said.
The former governor also prayed for Yusuf, asking God to grant him wisdom, good health, and clarity of purpose as he continues to lead the state.
The message came amid recent political speculation over a possible defection of Yusuf from the NNPP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a development that has generated debate within Kano’s political space.
Kwankwaso had, in recent remarks, publicly urged the governor to remain in the NNPP, calling on him not to defect amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
