Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday granted former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, his wife and son bail in the sum of ₦500 million each.
The judge, while ruling on the bail application, imposed stringent conditions, including the provision of sureties who must own landed property in Asokoro, Maitama or Gwarinpa areas of the Federal Capital Territory.
Justice Nwite ordered that the sureties must submit the title documents of the properties to the court for verification by the Deputy Chief Registrar and also depose to an affidavit of means.
The court further directed that Malami, his wife and son must deposit their international passports and other travel documents with the court.
The judge ruled that Malami must not travel out of the country without the prior permission of the court.
The matter was adjourned to a later date to be communicated to the parties for further proceedings.
