The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Miller Gajere Dantawaye, on Monday decorated SP Ibrahim Lawan Rano with his new rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
The decoration ceremony took place at the FCT Police Command Headquarters, Abuja, and was conducted with the assistance of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration.
The promotion followed the recent elevation of senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force by the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Kano Times reports that the PSC promoted 542 officers from the rank of Superintendent of Police to Chief Superintendent of Police after written examinations and oral interviews held at its Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, on Dec. 17, 2025.
Rano, who holds the traditional title of Dan Majen Rano, hails from the Rano Royal Family in Kano State. He has served in various police formations across the country and is regarded as a disciplined officer with a consistent record of service.
Before his promotion, he served as the Second-in-Command (2IC) of the Anti-Money Laundering Unit, FCT Command, Abuja.
The PSC said the promotions were part of ongoing efforts to reward professionalism, competence, and dedication within the Nigeria Police Force.
