The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms and live ammunition, the command said in a statement on Friday.
The suspects were apprehended by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Base, Dorayi, following credible intelligence, the statement signed by CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer for the Commissioner of Police, said.
According to the statement, the first suspect, identified as Isyaku Maude, 37, popularly known as ‘Dan Sokoto’ of Bachirawa Quarters, Kano, “confessed to committing a series of armed robberies within Kano Metropolis with his syndicate members.”
The statement added that subsequent investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Sahabi Danladi, 20, of Kofar Mata Quarters, Kano, and Najib Ibrahim, 32, of Bachirawa Quarters, Kano.
The police recovered from the suspects “a Beretta pistol with breach No. 2322892, a fabricated Beretta pistol, and twenty-three (23) rounds of 9mm live ammunition,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers for their commitment and thanked residents of the state for their support, the statement added, noting that investigations were ongoing.
