The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly defiling his eight-year-old biological daughter in the Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the arrest in a statement released to journalists on Thursday in Bauchi.
Habib disclosed that the incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Alkaleri, leading to the suspect’s immediate apprehension.
Detailing the heinous act, the PPRO stated: “The suspect lured his biological daughter into a bathroom and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her approximately five times in a single day, against her will.”
He further explained the prompt action taken by the police to ensure the victim received care and the perpetrator was secured.
“Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives led by the Alkaleri DPO, CSP Kadiri Danjuma, swiftly visited the scene. They moved the victim to General Hospital, Alkaleri, for immediate medical attention and arrested the suspect,” the statement added.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect did not deny the allegations during initial questioning. “During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime,” Habib stated.
Reacting to the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the act in strong terms. He assured the public that justice would be served to deter others from such crimes.
“The Commissioner has ordered a discreet and diligent investigation, focused on evidence gathering, to explore the intricacies of the case for necessary prosecution,” the PPRO concluded.
