The Kano State Government has announced plans to train 50,000 youths across the state in 2026 as part of efforts to promote self-reliance, productivity and economic stability among young people.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday.
Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf made the disclosure during the distribution of empowerment packages to 2,260 graduates of eight entrepreneurship skills institutes at the Government House, Kano.
According to Yusuf, the training programme is aimed at building a skilled, empowered and self-reliant population capable of contributing meaningfully to the development of the state.
“The objective of this programme is to build a skilled, empowered and self-reliant population that will contribute meaningfully to the overall development of Kano State,” the governor said.
He noted that the initiative was part of his administration’s broader vision to tackle poverty, unemployment and youth restiveness across the state.
Yusuf added that the programme would stimulate economic growth, reduce joblessness and promote inclusivity and social development among the youth.
The governor further assured that his administration remained committed to investing heavily in youth training and empowerment as a strategic step toward securing a better future for the next generation.
He reiterated that empowering young people with relevant skills remained a key pillar of his government’s development agenda.
