Popular activist, Mrs Aisha Yesufu, has described the 2027 general elections as a critical opportunity for Nigerians to take responsibility for the future of the country.
Yesufu said the elections represent a moment for citizens to actively determine their survival and direction as a nation.
She warned Nigerians against expecting external intervention or miracles to resolve the country’s challenges, stressing that no one would come to save them.
The activist made the remarks in a post on her X handle, where she urged Nigerians to abandon the belief that divine intervention alone would fix the nation’s problems.
According to her, what many people often describe as a “miracle” is simply God preserving citizens’ lives to enable them to participate in choosing their leaders.
She said Nigerians must make deliberate and informed political decisions rather than shifting responsibility to God while failing to act.
Yesufu also warned that the struggle for Nigeria’s future was already underway, describing the 2027 general elections as a defining moment for the country.
“In case you missed my New Year message, no one is coming to save us,” she wrote.
“It is we, Nigerians that will save ourselves.
“The miracle we pray for, is God keeping us alive to be part of the decision makers on who the people are that will govern Nigeria.
“The time for decision making is now. We should not abdicate our responsibility to God and refuse to do the needful.
“2027 election is Nigerians fighting for their lives and it has already started.”
She urged citizens to rise to their civic responsibilities and take ownership of the country’s political process.
