Kano Planning Authority unveils zonal offices to enhance urban control

The Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA) has commissioned new zonal offices across strategic locations in the state to enhance service delivery and bring its operations closer to residents.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Authority, Bahijja Malam Kabara, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kano.

According to the statement, the newly commissioned offices are located in Wudil Zone, Ungoggo, Gwarzo Road, Zaria Road and Hadeja Road.

It said the initiative was aimed at easing access for residents to lodge complaints, obtain building permits and address other building-related matters without undue stress.

Speaking during the commissioning exercise, the Managing Director of KNUPDA, Arc. Hauwa Hassan, said the establishment of the zonal offices would enhance efficiency and reduce congestion at the Authority’s headquarters.

“The creation of these zonal offices will improve effective service delivery, decongest our headquarters and promote better interaction between KNUPDA and the general public,” Hassan was quoted as saying.

She also commended the Kano State Government, under the leadership of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for supporting the Authority with the provision of 20 motorcycles to facilitate staff mobility.

According to her, the motorcycles will enhance monitoring and enforcement duties across the state and ensure smoother service delivery.

“The gesture clearly demonstrates the government’s resolve to strengthen urban planning institutions and ensure orderly development in Kano State,” she added.

KNUPDA reassured residents of its readiness to serve the public and urged them to utilise the nearest zonal office for all planning and building-related services.
