DSS Rescues Two Pastors, Church Member Abducted in Kaduna-Niger Axis

The Department of State Services (DSS) has rescued two pastors and a church member who were abducted in Kaduna State.

The victims, identified as Idi Buhari, Emmanuel Jacob and Suleiman Adamu, were abducted on Jan. 9, 2026, at the Gwagwada area of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State while travelling through Kugosi to Sarkin Pawa in Niger State to officiate at a wedding ceremony.

The rescued victims were received by the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory, Rev. Joseph Hayab.

Hayab said the victims were safely rescued from the bush by operatives of the DSS during ongoing security operations in Niger State.

He commended the DSS for what he described as courageous, timely and selfless service to the nation, noting that the successful operation brought immense relief to the church and the families of the victims.

According to him, the safe return of the abducted pastors has renewed hope that criminal elements can be defeated through sustained and coordinated security efforts.

“Insecurity can only be effectively tackled through cooperation among security agencies, faith leaders and the general public,” Hayab said.

He warned that criminal elements thrive when communities are divided and called for unity in the fight against insecurity.
