The Federal Government has assured Kano State of support to address insecurity following the gruesome killing of a housewife and her children in the state.
This assurance came as Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he raised concerns over the worsening security situation and sought federal intervention.
The meeting was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the statement, Governor Yusuf briefed the President on pressing challenges facing the state, with particular emphasis on insecurity in some local government areas.
The governor specifically drew President Tinubu’s attention to the recent murder of a housewife and her children, describing the incident as tragic and stressing the urgent need for decisive federal action to protect lives and property.
“He informed Mr President about the recent tragic killing of a housewife and her children and stressed the need for strong federal support to strengthen security operations and protect innocent citizens,” the statement said.
Governor Yusuf also highlighted the role of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in complementing the efforts of conventional security agencies, calling for stronger collaboration between the state outfit and federal security institutions.
On development, the governor outlined his administration’s focus on mega infrastructure projects aimed at boosting economic growth and creating jobs.
He commended President Tinubu for the Federal Government’s intervention on the Wujuwuju Road project, describing it as a critical step toward unlocking economic opportunities in the state.
The governor further appealed for presidential support to fast-track other federal projects in Kano and ensure the state benefits fully from federal programmes and investments.
In his response, President Tinubu assured Governor Yusuf of the Federal Government’s readiness to work closely with the Kano State Government to tackle insecurity and promote sustainable development.
