The Nigeria Police Force on Saturday received officials from the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja to review ongoing collaboration and discuss ways to strengthen institutional engagement.
The delegation, led by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of INL, Ms. Maggie Nardi, paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The INL team included Mr. Jacob Wright, Senior Advisor, INL, and Mr. Grane Douglas, Acting Director, INL Abuja.
Police spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the meeting focused on the partnership between the two organisations.
Ms. Nardi reiterated the United States’ commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force through expanded specialised training and the provision of modern operational equipment.
She said, “We are committed to supporting the Nigeria Police Force through expanded specialised training programmes and the provision of modern operational equipment.”
She also emphasised the importance of continued collaboration to build institutional capacity and enhance operational effectiveness.
IGP Egbetokun thanked INL for its partnership and support, particularly in tactical capacity development.
He said the INL-supported training initiatives had positively impacted the operational performance of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS).
He added that the force would continue to strengthen cooperation with INL and other international partners while adopting global best practices to improve service delivery.
