Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to tackling terrorism, insurgency, and banditry, and to strengthening national security through closer cooperation with the United States.
On Saturday, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu met with a high-level U.S. delegation led by Allison Hooker, Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, at the National Counterterrorism Centre in Abuja.
The meeting included top Nigerian security and government officials such as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the Ministers of Defence and Interior, Service Chiefs, and heads of the country’s intelligence agencies.
Attendees included the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Defence Intelligence, Inspector General of Police, DG of the DSS, DG of the NIA, and the Attorney General of the Federation.
The discussion centered on strengthening the fight against terrorism and insurgency, protecting vulnerable communities, and improving intelligence cooperation between Nigeria and the U.S.
Officials said continued collaboration and intelligence sharing are necessary to address the country’s security challenges.
The meeting is part of ongoing efforts by both countries to deepen security cooperation and support Nigeria’s drive to restore peace and stability.
