Barau FC on Thursday extended their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after holding hosts Bendel Insurance to a goalless draw in a Matchday 23 encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
The visitors put up a disciplined and well-organised performance to earn a valuable away point, with both sides unable to break the deadlock throughout the 90 minutes.
The result marked Barau FC’s fourth consecutive match without defeat in the second stanza of the 2025/2026 NPFL season.
A statement by the club’s Media Director, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, said the Maliya Boys had earlier recorded a win against Niger Tornadoes and played draws with Enyimba in Aba, Bayelsa United in Kano, and Bendel Insurance in Benin during the run.
Reacting to the outcome, Barau FC head coach, Eugene Agagbe, commended his players for their commitment and adherence to tactical instructions.
“I want to commend my players. It is not easy to pick up points away from home, but the players followed the game plan, and that is why we were able to get a result here,” Agagbe said.
He added that the team’s focus had shifted to their next NPFL Matchday 24 fixture against Ikorodu City, scheduled to hold next week at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.
With the draw, Barau FC moved up to 15th position on the NPFL standings with 27 points from 23 matches, as they continue their efforts to steer clear of the relegation zone.
