The Director of the service, Alhaji Sani Anas, disclosed this in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the agency, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Thursday in Kano.

He said, “We received a distress call from one Sulaiman Abdullahi-Tela on Thursday afternoon that Malam-Gwani had fallen into an open water body.

“Upon receiving the report, a rescue team from the agency’s headquarters was immediately deployed to the scene.”

According to him, the victim was retrieved dead from the water and handed over to the ward head of Bachirawa Quarters, Jibrin Isah.

In a related incident, an eight-year-old boy, Abdussalam Ibrahim, reportedly fell into a well at Kofar Yamma, Karaye town, in Karaye Local Government Area of the state.

He said the child was also retrieved dead and subsequently handed over to his father, Malam Musa Mudi.
