Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has relieved Engr. Buba Galadima of his position as Chairman of the Governing Council of Kano State Polytechnic.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the statement, the governor has approved the appointment of the Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the new Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution.
The statement explained that the decision to relieve Galadima of his appointment was part of ongoing restructuring efforts in line with the administration’s policy direction.
“The decision to relieve Alhaji Buba Galadima of the position followed the restructuring and alignment with Kano First Agenda,” the statement read.
It further noted that although the tenure of the Governing Council is for a period of three years, the appointment of the chairman was terminated before expiration due to ongoing reforms aimed at improving the institution’s performance.
“Although the tenure of the Governing Council is for a period of three years, the appointment of the Chairman was terminated before expiration due to the ongoing reforms for optimal performance of the Polytechnic,” the statement added.
Governor Yusuf, however, expressed appreciation to Galadima for his service to the institution during his time as chairman.
“The Governor expressed appreciation to Engr. Buba Galadima for the services he rendered to the institution during his tenure as Chairman of the Governing Council,” the statement said.
The governor also charged the new chairman to deploy his experience and leadership capacity toward repositioning the institution.
“The Governor urged the newly appointed Chairman, the Emir of Gaya, to bring his wealth of experience, leadership and commitment to bear in repositioning Kano State Polytechnic for greater academic and administrative excellence,” the statement concluded.
