FAAN Confirms Fire Incident at Lagos International Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed a fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

FAAN made the disclosure in a statement posted on its official X handle on Monday.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the public of a fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos,” the statement said.

According to the authority, its firefighting team swiftly mobilised to the scene and was working to contain the situation and prevent further damage.

“Our firefighting team is currently responding and working to contain the situation. No loss of life has been recorded,” FAAN stated.

The agency assured the public that further updates would be provided as more information becomes available.

Meanwhile, Terminal 1, also known as the old terminal, is currently undergoing rehabilitation by the Federal Government, with N710 billion allocated for the project.

Kano Times reports that prior to the incident, FAAN had relocated some airlines and businesses operating at the old terminal to a temporary facility to allow for the ongoing rehabilitation works.
