Dubai’s international airport began gradually resuming flights on Monday following a fire caused by a drone attack that temporarily suspended operations.
The incident occurred amid the ongoing conflict between the United States and Israel with Iran, which has severely disrupted Middle Eastern airspace.
Many flights were canceled, rerouted, or delayed over fears of missile and drone strikes, while fuel prices continue to rise globally.
The Dubai Media Office said that the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority announced a “gradual resumption” of certain flights to specific destinations in a statement on X.
Emirates Airline said it expected partial operations to restart at 06:00 GMT, noting that the fire affected a fuel tank but caused no injuries.
Flydubai also temporarily halted flights, with some rerouted to Al Maktoum International Airport.
This marks the third drone attack on Dubai International Airport since Iran launched assaults on Gulf nations on February 28, targeting both US military presence and civilian facilities in the region.
Gulf states have reported more than 2,000 missile and drone attacks since the conflict began.
The United Arab Emirates, which normalized relations with Israel in 2020, has condemned the attacks along with other Gulf nations, highlighting the continued risks to aviation and infrastructure in the region.
