The Katsina State Police Command has announced a ban on the participation of ‘Yan Tauri’ in the forthcoming Sallah Durbar as part of efforts to ensure a peaceful Eid celebration.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu.
According to the statement, the police have deployed adequate personnel and assets across the state to safeguard lives and property before, during and after the festivities.
It added that the ban also applies to any individual or group carrying dangerous weapons such as knives, clubs and swords.
“The command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for citizens to celebrate the festive period,” the statement said.
The police urged residents to comply with the directive, warning that anyone found violating the order would face strict consequences.
Parents and guardians were also advised to caution their children and wards against engaging in unlawful acts, including illegal horse riding, traffic offences, and other forms of anti-social behaviour.
The command further warned criminal elements to desist from any act capable of breaching the peace, stressing its readiness to deal decisively with offenders.
Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
