Kano Court Sacks Kumbotso Chairman, Orders Swearing-in of Replacement

A High Court sitting in Kano State has sacked the Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Council, Ghali Abdullahi Basaf.

The presiding judge, Justice Abdu Maiwada Abubakar, delivered the judgment on Tuesday.

The court nullified the Certificate of Return issued to Basaf, ruling that it was granted in violation of an earlier court order.

The suit was filed by Ali Musa Hardworker against the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Basaf, and the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC).

In its ruling, the court directed that Ali Musa Hardworker be sworn in as the duly elected Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government.

Justice Abubakar also ordered KANSIEC to comply strictly with the court’s earlier judgment delivered on October 25, 2024, stressing that all parties must adhere to judicial decisions.
