Jigawa-born Barrister Firdausi Sanusi Umar Ringim has officially declared her intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Umar said her decision followed months of encouragement and appeals from constituents across the federal constituency.
“Over the past months, many people from across Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency have reached out to me with encouragement and sincere appeals, urging me to consider contesting for the seat in the House of Representatives,” she said.
Umar explained that her decision was motivated by a desire to serve the people rather than personal ambition.
“This decision is not about personal ambition; it is about service. It is about giving a stronger voice to our people, advancing the aspirations of our communities, and working together to create more opportunities for our youth, empower our women, and strengthen development across our constituency,” she added.
The aspirant disclosed that she had consulted extensively with elders, community leaders, women, youth, friends, and supporters, and had also sought divine guidance before arriving at her decision.
“I am deeply grateful for the trust, encouragement, and confidence that so many of you have placed in me. Your belief inspires me, and I do not take it for granted,” Umar said.
She also called for unity among constituents as her campaign journey begins. “I look forward to walking this journey together with you. With unity, sincerity, and the grace of Allah, we can build a brighter future for Ringim and Taura. May Allah guide us and bless our constituency,” she added.
Barrister Umar is the founder of the Firdausi Ringim Foundation, an initiative focused on youth empowerment and community development across Jigawa State.
