Kwankwaso to Lead ADC Registration in Kano

Former Kano State Commissioner of Science and Technology, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar-Mata, has called on the general public to attend the upcoming registration event of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party, which will be led by Senator Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

In a statement made available to newsmen, Dr. Kofar-Mata, who serves as the ADC Caucus Secretary, said, “I am inviting the general public to the registration event of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party, which will be led by Sen. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Monday, 30th March 2026, at around 12 noon at the Kwankwasiyya House, Miller Road, Bompai, Kano.”

He further prayed for a successful gathering, adding, “May Allah grant us success, Amen.”

Senator Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), is expected to formally join the ADC during the event.

Sources say the move follows weeks of consultations between Kwankwaso, his Kwankwasiyya movement, and leaders of the ADC.

The former presidential candidate had in recent weeks held a series of high-level meetings with ADC stakeholders and other opposition figures.

The development comes after Kwankwaso and his political protégé, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, parted ways.

Governor Yusuf, widely regarded as Kwankwaso’s political godson and a major beneficiary of the Kwankwasiyya movement, recently defected from the NNPP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with several lawmakers and political appointees.

Kwankwaso, however, opposed the move and distanced himself from it, describing it as a betrayal.

The registration exercise is expected to draw supporters from across Kano State, signaling a major political gathering ahead of the forthcoming elections.
