President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on a condolence visit following last Sunday’s attack in the Angwan Rukuba area which left at least 27 people dead.
The President was received at the airport by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, alongside other top government officials.
Tinubu had earlier condemned the attack in Jos, as well as a separate incident in Kahir village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where wedding guests were reportedly killed and abducted.
Reacting through his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the incidents as “barbaric and cowardly,” warning that those responsible would be brought to justice.
“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward,” Tinubu had said.
He commended Governor Mutfwang for his swift response in managing the situation and directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators.
The President also cautioned against portraying the attacks as religiously motivated, warning that such narratives could further inflame tensions.
