Muhammad Daha Umar Faruk, the eldest son of the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, has officially declared his intention to contest the Baure/Zango Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
Faruk, who holds the traditional title of Danburam Daura, said his decision followed persistent appeals from constituents urging him to represent them at the National Assembly.
“I want to inform all my supporters that I, Muhammad Daha Faruk, have decided to heed their call,” he said. “I have accepted to contest for a seat in the National Assembly to represent the Baure/Zango Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections.”
The young royal urged his followers to engage in a peaceful campaign, warning against actions that could lead to ridicule or disrespect.
“I want to use this opportunity to urge all my supporters to refrain from any activities that may amount to ridicule or disrespect of anyone in the name of supporting me,” he added.
Although Faruk did not disclose the political party under which he intends to run, political observers speculate that he may align with either the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
