The Federal Government has commenced the construction of 100 housing units in each local government area across the country for vulnerable Nigerians, including victims of insecurity.
The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Enlightenment, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, disclosed this on Tuesday during an inspection of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Renewed Hope City project in Janguza, Kano.
According to him, the housing scheme, known as the Tinubu Estate, is already underway nationwide.
“Apart from Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Renewed Hope City project, there are also 100 housing units per local government, which have commenced as Tinubu Estate.
“They are targeted at vulnerable groups, especially victims of insecurity and other disadvantaged persons in society. This is being done across all local governments in Nigeria as we speak,” he said.
Abdulaziz said the Renewed Hope City project was part of the Tinubu administration’s efforts to reduce the country’s housing deficit and provide affordable homes for Nigerians.
“This is an effort by the President Bola Tinubu administration to reduce Nigeria’s housing deficit and also provide affordable housing for workers and other Nigerians.
“Already, people are patronising the project and allocations have been made. These are part of the sustainable projects this administration is undertaking to support vulnerable Nigerians and address national challenges,” he added.
Speaking on the progress of the project, the Project Manager, Builder Awe Augustine-Babatunde, said Phase 1, comprising 325 housing units, had been completed, while Phase 2, with 698 units, would be ready by August.
He said construction had reached about 75 per cent completion, with 426 housing units already built.
According to him, the estate will also feature road networks, a school, a clinic and a playground, among other facilities, to make it conducive for residents.
