Kano Govt Hands Over Rano School for Federal Polytechnic Take-off

The Kano State Government has handed over the School of Rural Technology and Entrepreneurship Development, Rano, to the Steering Committee overseeing the establishment of the proposed Federal Polytechnic in the area.

The Director-General, Media and Publicity, Kano Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

The statement said Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf performed the handover on Friday when he met members of the Steering Committee and inspected facilities earmarked for the proposed institution.

Yusuf assured that the state government would provide the necessary support to facilitate the establishment and prompt take-off of the Polytechnic.

He stressed the importance of technical education and skills development in preparing young people for employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

The governor also said the government would upgrade facilities and improve the learning environment at the school’s new location in Sumaila Local Government Area.

He said the move was aimed at enhancing effective teaching and learning at the institution.

Yusuf appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sen. Kawu Sumaila and Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum for their commitment and efforts toward actualising the proposed Polytechnic.

He also commended members of the Steering Committee for their sustained efforts and dedication toward moving the project closer to realisation.

In separate remarks, Sumaila and Rurum thanked President Tinubu for approving the establishment of the Polytechnic and Yusuf for providing the necessary support and enabling environment for its actualisation.

They expressed optimism that the institution would expand access to technical education, promote skills acquisition and create opportunities for young people in Kano and beyond.

Also speaking, a member of the Steering Committee, Sen. UK Umar, called for the allocation of additional hectares of land to accommodate future expansion of the Polytechnic.

Umar said the additional land would provide adequate space for academic facilities and other supporting infrastructure as the institution expands.
