Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Mr Fanka Beli, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State.
The incident occurred on Monday night when the gunmen reportedly stormed Beli town in Rogo Local Government Area and abducted the APC chairman.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the attackers arrived in the town at night and whisked Beli away.
“The gunmen stormed the town at night and abducted him. We are worried about his safety and hoping that he will be released soon,” the resident said.
As of the time of filing this report, details of the circumstances surrounding the abduction remained sketchy.
The incident came barely a day after suspected kidnappers attacked Rantan village in Bebeji Local Government Area of the state, killing two persons and abducting three others.
Among those reportedly killed in the attack were Alhaji Buba Garba, the APC Chairman in Rantan Ward, and his neighbour, Sulaiman Aliko.
Residents described the Bebeji incident as a targeted attack, raising fresh concerns over the security situation in parts of the state.
Efforts to obtain confirmation from the police and other security agencies on the latest abduction were ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
