Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, Mr Daniel Bwala, says the President will record a significant increase in votes from the South-East in the 2027 presidential election.
Bwala, who spoke on Channels Television’s current affairs programme on Wednesday, said Tinubu could secure up to two million votes from the region, which would be at least four to six times higher than the 127,370 votes he polled there in 2023.
“I guarantee you, President Bola Tinubu is going to get more than four times, if not six times, the value of the votes he got. He’ll get up to two million,” he said.
Responding to a question on the chances of the president if Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party is on the ballot, Bwala said the former Anambra governor’s influence in the zone had declined.
According to him, Obi may not contest the presidency in 2027 and could end up as the Director-General of a coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC) campaign.
“As I tell you, he’s not going to get a ticket in any of the parties – ADC, PDP or LP. He might not even get the vice-presidential ticket from the way things are going. Whether Peter Obi is a ticket bearer or not, he has lost more than 50 per cent of his votes because they were not built on agenda and politics, but on rhetoric and division,” he said.
Bwala added that recent defections of southern governors to the APC and endorsements by governors from opposition parties would further boost Tinubu’s popularity and numbers in the South-East ahead of the 2027 polls.
