Former Hisbah commanders from the 44 local government areas of Kano State have accused Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration of sacking them for refusing to join the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
The commanders, led by Alhaji Ahmad Kadawa, made the allegation during a solidarity visit to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, at his Abuja residence yesterday.
Kadawa claimed that their removal in 2023 was politically motivated.
“They sacked us because we refused to join the NNPP and wear red caps, the symbol of the Kwankwasiyya Movement. We are here to reaffirm our loyalty and support to you and the All Progressives Congress (APC). You have endeared yourself to the people of Kano through your various programmes,” he said.
Responding, Senator Barau expressed concern over their plight, describing their dismissal as unfair.
“I admonish you to be patient and see it as a test from Allah (SWT). By Allah’s grace, the time will come when you will be reinstated and your entitlements paid,” the Deputy Senate President assured.
He urged them to remain steadfast and law-abiding, adding that justice would eventually prevail.
The Kano State Government had yet to respond to the allegation at the time of filing this report.
