Nigeria’s Hilda Baci sets Guinness record with largest serving of jollof rice

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has been recognised by Guinness World Records (GWR) for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds).

GWR confirmed the feat on its official X account on Friday, saying the record was achieved by Baci in partnership with food brand Gino at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The attempt took place during the “Gino World Jollof Festival” on Sept. 12, drawing thousands of participants and generating widespread attention online.

Baci, who gained international recognition in 2023 after setting the record for the longest cooking marathon, has cemented her status as one of Nigeria’s most prominent chefs.

The Lagos event was attended by celebrities including actress Funke Akindele, media personalities Enioluwa Adeoluwa and Tomike Adeoye, and Ogun State governor’s wife Bamidele Abiodun.
