Kano Approves 50 Low-Cost Housing Estates Across LGAs

The Kano State Government has approved the construction of 50 low-cost housing estates across the 36 Local Government Areas outside the metropolis, aimed at providing affordable accommodation for low- and middle-income earners.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed this in a statement yesterday, noting that the initiative is part of the administration’s broader efforts to bridge the housing deficit and promote inclusive development across the state.

According to the statement, the project is expected to stimulate local economies through job creation for artisans, engineers, and contractors, while also improving access to decent housing for families in both urban and rural areas.

Each estate, the statement added, will be equipped with essential infrastructure such as access roads, electricity, and water supply to ensure sustainability and comfort for residents.

“This initiative reflects Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to equitable development and his vision of ensuring that every part of the state benefits from sustainable infrastructure,” the statement said.

It further reiterated the administration’s resolve to continue investing in people-centered projects that directly enhance livelihoods and strengthen the socio-economic wellbeing of citizens.
