Ex – Kano Speaker Rurum mourns APC Bunkure Chair Rabi’u Gurjiya

A former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and member representing Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Alhaji Rabi’u Halliru Gurjiya, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman of Bunkure Local Government Area.

Rurum, in a condolence message he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Kano on Saturday, described the late Gurjiya as “a loyal and committed grassroots mobiliser who devoted his life to the service of his people and the development of our great party.”

He said the deceased passed away in Saudi Arabia after a brief illness, noting that his demise was a huge loss not only to his family and the APC in Bunkure but also to the entire Kano political community.

“Alhaji Rabi’u Halliru Gurjiya was not just a dedicated party leader, but a loyal and committed grassroots mobiliser who devoted his life to the service of his people and the development of our great party, the APC,” Rurum said.

The lawmaker recalled that the late APC chairman was among the 13 individuals sponsored for the lesser Hajj (Umrah) this year under his annual spiritual support programme for constituents.

“It is more painful that Alhaji Gurjiya was among the 13 individuals sponsored for the lesser Hajj (Umrah) by me this year. While we had all hoped and prayed for his safe return, Allah, in His infinite wisdom, has chosen to call him to rest in the holy land — indeed, a noble and blessed end,” he added.

Rurum extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, the APC leadership in Bunkure, and the people of Bunkure Local Government Area.

“On behalf of myself, my family, and the entire people of Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Federal Constituency, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the APC leadership in Bunkure, and the good people of Bunkure Local Government Area,” he said.

He prayed to Allah to forgive Gurjiya’s shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus, while also giving his family and associates the fortitude to bear the loss.

“May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, and give his family, friends, and associates the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” Rurum prayed.
