The Nigerian Army on Sunday said it had intensified operations against terrorists, insurgents, and criminal networks across the country, recording significant successes over the past 48 hours.
The military stated that the offensive was carried out in line with directives from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, to “completely annihilate terrorists and dismantle all networks of criminality.”
In a statement posted on its official X handle, the army disclosed that seven terrorists had been neutralised, 27 suspects arrested, and arms, ammunition, and stolen crude oil products recovered during coordinated operations nationwide.
In the North East, troops under Sector 3 Operation HADIN KAI conducted a cordon-and-search operation in Anguwan Church, Monguno, Borno State, arresting 12 suspects linked to terror logistics and intelligence networks. Meanwhile, soldiers from the 192 Battalion ambushed Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan (JAS) militants along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, killing three terrorists and seizing an AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition. Troops of 25 Brigade in Damboa also neutralised a militant attempting to infiltrate their position.
In the North West and North Central regions, Operation ENDURING PEACE in Kaduna State resulted in the killing of two insurgents in Kauru Local Government Area. In Plateau State, four suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of two civilians in Riyom Local Government Area. Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Niger State eliminated a terrorist scout and led to the recovery of a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and other operational items.
The South-South region also recorded gains. In Akwa Ibom State, troops of 2 Brigade arrested three illegal miners involved in black sand trading. In Abia State, 144 Battalion discovered an illegal crude oil refining site containing over 1,000 litres of stolen oil. Troops of 34 Artillery Brigade in Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State, seized six drums of stolen crude oil and a canoe used for transportation. In Delta State, 90 Amphibious Battalion apprehended three suspects, including an impostor dressed in military camouflage, during a checkpoint operation in Sapele, confiscating fake military ranks, mobile phones, and charms.
The army said the operations reflected its renewed combat posture under Lieutenant General Shaibu and reaffirmed its commitment to “restore lasting peace, protect citizens, and defend Nigeria’s sovereignty.”
It called on the public to support military efforts by providing credible and timely information to help end insecurity and reclaim national territory from criminal elements.
