Abdulmumin Jibrin, member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending months of speculation about his political future.
Jibrin, a key ally of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 election, announced his return to the APC on Monday in his hometown of Kofa, Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.
His defection comes barely two months after his expulsion from the NNPP over alleged anti-party activities and non-payment of membership dues.
Addressing a large crowd of supporters, Jibrin declared his total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and endorsed him for a second term in 2027.
“In a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji, Kano,” Jibrin said. “The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for a second term in office.”
He disclosed that the event was attended by over 2,000 Islamic clerics, who offered special prayers for the president and for peace, unity, and development in Kiru/Bebeji, Kano, and Nigeria at large.
Jibrin, who once served as Director-General of the Tinubu Support Groups, left the APC for the NNPP in 2022, where he played a key role in mobilising support for Kwankwaso’s presidential campaign.
His return to the APC is seen by analysts as a major boost for the ruling party in Kano ahead of the 2027 general elections.
