Twenty-five schoolgirls abducted from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga town, Kebbi State, have been freed and are now safe, a Defence Ministry source who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed on Tuesday.
The girls were kidnapped before dawn on Monday when gunmen stormed the school, the source said. “We are relieved to report that all the girls have been safely rescued and are receiving medical attention,” the official added.
Details about any ransom or the circumstances surrounding the rescue are not yet available.
