Tinubu’s Reforms Save 27 States from Economic Collapse – Minister

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s reforms rescued at least 27 states from economic collapse.

The minister made the remark on Saturday while delivering a lecture at the 34th Convocation and 43rd Founders’ Day of the Federal University of Technology, Minna. His lecture was titled, “Youth and Nation Building: Navigating Opportunities in an Era of National Reforms.”

According to Idris, before May 29, 2023, about 27 states in the country were struggling to pay salaries to workers.

“President Bola Tinubu traversed the length and breadth of this country during campaigns. He had plans to make Nigeria greater. Coming into power, he initiated reforms that have now saved these states from collapse,” he said.

The minister added that as a result of the reforms, states are now receiving three times what they used to, enabling them to pay salaries, execute massive infrastructure projects, and deliver dividends of democracy to their people.

“These achievements were made possible by President Tinubu’s reforms and effective leadership strategy,” Idris said.

He further stressed that continuous reforms are essential for nation-building. “There is no nation-building without reforms. It is impossible to build a nation if you do not continue to undertake these reforms,” he said.

Idris concluded that the reforms have protected the country from challenges that could have arisen in their absence.
