The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kano State Chapter, has commended Zainab Nasir Ahmad, Executive Director of the Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS), for her leadership in promoting peace, youth empowerment, and responsible media practice.

The commendation was given during a one-day Peace Summit organized by YOSPIS, AMG Foundation, and the Nigeria Police Force, Kano State Command, at Khalifa Isyaka Rabi’u University (KHAIRUN), Kano.

The association called for stronger collaboration between the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), NAWOJ, security agencies, and development partners to uphold professionalism and ethical standards in journalism, particularly among young media practitioners.

“Closer cooperation between NUJ, NAWOJ, and relevant stakeholders will help guide young journalists, discourage misinformation, and strengthen public trust in the media,” Malam Kabara said.

She also commended the proactive engagement of the Nigeria Police Force with the media and civil society, describing it as vital for fostering understanding and sustaining peace.

The summit featured notable figures, including the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Bakori; Dr. Bala Muhammad of Bayero University, Kano; DSP Haruna Kiyawa; Musa Abdullahi Sufi; Dr. Aminu Magashi; Comrade Abbas Ibrahim; representatives of the Emirate Council; and the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Hajiya Maimuna, alongside executives and members of AMG Foundation.
