A coalition of stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has said the nomination of Engr. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi as Deputy Governor will strengthen the party’s structure and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders made their position known in a letter addressed to the state governor over the weekend, signed by the immediate past APC Chairman in Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, alongside other party leaders in the state.
In the letter, the group expressed “strong support” for Bichi’s nomination, describing him as a party member with a record of service and commitment to the APC.
They said their position was based on Bichi’s “wealth of experience” and “untainted record of service,” adding that he is not associated with any controversy that could affect the party’s electoral chances.
The stakeholders said his emergence would help strengthen internal unity within the APC and improve its chances in future elections as preparations begin toward 2027.
“In view of the foregoing, we urge Your Excellency to give favourable consideration to his nomination in the overall interest of the party and the people of Kano State,” the statement read.
The endorsement was said to have the backing of different APC groups, including serving and former members of the House of Representatives, members of the Kano State House of Assembly, and former local government council chairmen.
Among the signatories were political figures and lawmakers from various constituencies in Kano, as well as former council chairmen from several local government areas across the three senatorial districts.
The stakeholders said they remain committed to the success of the federal and Kano State governments, expressing hope that Bichi’s nomination will further consolidate the APC’s strength ahead of the 2027 elections.
