Group Backs Murtala Garo’s Nomination as Kano Deputy Governor

The Nigerian Democratic Working Group has backed the nomination of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor of Kano State, describing it as a development that could strengthen governance in the state.

The group also commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, saying the decision reflects what it called administrative consideration and efforts to improve leadership structure in the state.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Mohammed Hussaini, the group said the nomination reflects the need to place experienced individuals in key government positions.

“The nomination of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo represents a step toward strengthening administrative efficiency and governance structure. It reflects consideration for competence and service delivery,” the statement read.

According to the group, Garo’s background in public service and political involvement would support the administration’s policy direction.

“Hon. Garo’s experience in public service and political engagement places him in a position to contribute to the administration’s development plans,” it added.

The group called on political stakeholders across party lines to support the nomination, saying it is important for stability and development in the state.

“We urge stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation, to support the nomination in the interest of stability and development in Kano State,” it said.

It further urged political actors to focus on governance priorities rather than political interests, stressing the need for cooperation in public administration.

The group said it remains committed to supporting governance initiatives aimed at improving service delivery in the state.

It expressed confidence that the nomination would have a positive impact on governance and development efforts in Kano State.
