Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the Kaduna Central Senatorial District seat.
The move marks his formal entry into the race ahead of the next electoral cycle, as political activities intensify within the ruling party.
Sani, a former senator and human rights activist, previously represented Kaduna Central in the National Assembly and remains a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political space.
His return to the senatorial contest is expected to influence the dynamics of the race in the district, given his political experience and grassroots support.
Party stakeholders and political observers say the development is likely to heighten competition among aspirants seeking the APC ticket for Kaduna Central.
Meanwhile, the sale of nomination forms is expected to run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, while the submission of completed forms will close on May 4, 2026.
Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 6 to May 9, 2026, covering State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential aspirants in phases.
The party’s primary elections are billed to begin on May 15, 2026, starting with House of Representatives contests, followed by Senate, State Houses of Assembly, governorship, and presidential primaries, and concluding on May 23, 2026.
