The Kano State Police have apprehended a notorious kidnapper responsible for terrorizing locals in Kunchi LGA. The arrest resulted in the recovery of over N4 million in cash, two AK-47 rifles, and 47 rounds of live ammunition.
According to a statement from the State Police Command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspect, identified as Hassan Iliya from Katsina State, was detained after a robbery incident in Yandadi Village. The victim reported that he was attacked and robbed of N15 million by the armed assailants.
The arrest occurred on August 5, 2024, around 2:00 a.m., when the victim alerted authorities about the robbery. By 6:00 a.m. on the same day, the police captured Hassan Iliya, 35, of Alhazawa Village, Musawa LGA, Katsina State, while he was attempting to flee on a motorcycle.

A search of the suspect’s sack uncovered N4,986,000 in cash, two AK-47 rifles, and 47 rounds of ammunition.
Kiyawa confirmed that investigations are ongoing and urged the public to avoid actions that could provoke violence and to remain vigilant.
