The National Universities Commission (NUC) has issued a full operational licence to Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, Kano State, following an assessment visit conducted earlier this year.
The university had been operating under a provisional licence for the past three years.
In a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the university and dated 15th October 2024, the NUC noted the institution’s compliance with operational guidelines.
“The Vice-Chancellor may recall the assessment visit conducted to Al-Istiqama University from 2nd to 5th June, 2024 to ascertain the compliance of the University with operational guidelines during the 3-year probationary period of the Provisional Licence,” the letter reads.
The letter, signed by Mrs. Lydia T. Imoroa, Acting Director of Inspection and Monitoring on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary, confirmed the NUC’s decision to issue the full licence.
“I am pleased to inform you that the Management Committee of the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the issuance of Full Operational Licence to Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, Kano State,” Mrs. Imoroa stated.
The full licence enables the university to continue its operations without the restrictions of the provisional period.
