The Congress of APC Youth Groups has criticized the recent removal of Engineer Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development.
In a statement signed Tuesday by its Chairman, Abdullahi Wada Kura, the group described Gwarzo’s removal as shocking and a potential risk for the All Progressives Congress in the state.
“Ruwa Baba enjoys the sympathy and support of the majority in the state. His dismissal has led to widespread discontent that will likely weaken the APC’s influence and future prospects in the state,” the group warned.
Gwarzo, who was removed along with four others, has thanked the President for giving him the opportunity to serve his country.
However, the group alleged that his dismissal was politically motivated by a well-placed political figure in Kano.
“The person behind Gwarzo’s removal misled the President. It’s important to understand that one person cannot decide for Kano,” it said.
The group further warned that the action is a silent endorsement of the NNPP, noting that politicians like Gwarzo shouldn’t be sidelined without a justifiable reason, other than the decision of a single individual who claims to control Kano’s politics.
“If he is not reinstated by 2027, the President will understand whether Gwarzo has the people’s support or not. The sympathy and prayers from people following his removal speak volumes.
“Kano North is a stronghold of the APC because of Gwarzo and other stakeholders from the zone, not just one individual.
The President should reconsider; it’s a risky decision leading up to 2027,” Kura stated.
