The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kano State chapter, has joined the nationwide warning strike by shutting down government offices and other facilities in the state.
Reports indicate that as early as 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the labor union was on the ground to carry out enforcement.
The State Vice Chairman of the union, Ado Riruwai, who led the enforcement exercise, told journalists that the labor union has shut down all government offices in the state.
Riruwai, who also serves as the Chairman of Private Sector Unions in the state, mentioned that all power sector and banks were also locked.
He noted that they were proceeding to the airport to ensure no flights took off from there.
“We have shut down all power sectors. Banks are not operating. We heard a flight took off this morning from the airport; we are heading there to ensure no flights take off from the airport.”
Among the facilities shut down is the Kano Electric Distribution Company (KEDCO) head office.
Recall that the NLC had given notice to embark on a two-day warning strike to protest the excruciating mass suffering and impoverishment experienced across the country, occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal.
