Kano State Secretary to the State Government, Bappa Bichi has threatened the state governorship tribunal sitting in Kano that peace will cease to exist in Nigeria and Kano State in the event the tribunal judgment is against the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP).
Mr Bappa who handed down the warning in an emotional speech laden with threats after prayers by some supporters of the Kwankwasiyya to seek divine intervention on the ongoing legal tussle about the governorship seat in the state, stated that the ruling party won’t condone unfavourable judgment by the tribunal.
The state governorship tribunal has reserved judgment in the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress, (APC), in the state challenging the victory of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP at the 2023 poll.
Earlier the State governor, Yusuf, sacked the commissioner for Lands, Adamu Kibiya., for threatening judges presiding over the governorship elections petition tribunal in the state.
In a video which has gone viral on social media, Kibiya was heard asking the judges to choose between their lives and their work while delivering the judgement.”
“I’m telling Abuja people that they shouldn’t interfere with the election in Kano. Whoever tempers with the election in Kano wouldn’t live. We did better than Bayelsa and Kogi, INEC declared us winners the people gave us the mandate no one should think he has the federal might will steal our mandate Such has happened in 2019 we calmed our supporters we will not do the same this time around.
“Anyone who snatches our mandate this time we will personally resist it. Anyone who snatches our mandate in Nigeria will never know peace in the country and Kano state.”
The election of the governor of the state, Abba Yusuf, is being challenged at the tribunal by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasiru Gawuna.
The tribunal is yet to fix a date to deliver its judgement on the petition.
