The Jigawa Civil Society Forum (JCS Forum) has commended the Jigawa State government for the recent two-day retreat it held for members of the State Executive Council and other top government officials.
The JCS Forum, in a statement signed by its chairman, Muhammad Musbahu Basirka revealed this on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the retreat, themed “Accelerating Socio-Economic Development for greater Jigawa”was held in partnership with FCDO’s PERL-ARC Project.
“The aimed of the retreat is to develop a strategic framework that would facilitate the achievement of the administration’s 12-point agenda.
“This demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing key issues and implementing effective policies for the betterment of Jigawa state.
“The retreat also aimed to establish a framework for tracking and measuring performance in order to assess the progress made towards realizing the Greater Jigawa Agenda.
“This framework will provide crucial insights into the effectiveness of various initiatives and ensure transparency and accountability in governance,” the statement reads in part.
The statement also added that the retreat provided an opportunity to brief and familiarize members of the executive council on key government processes, systems, and procedures.
“It served as a reminder of their moral responsibilities as leaders and the significance of their roles in fostering good governance and leadership,” it added.
It noted that the presence of Open Government Partnership (OGP) Jigawa Citizens’ side as the only true representative of citizens’ groups in attendance demonstrates the government’s commitment to involving civil society organizations and ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.
The forum also lauded the government’s commitment to addressing key issues and implementing effective policies for the betterment of Jigawa state.
