Governor Yusuf Seeks Kano Assembly’s Approval to Establish State Disease Control Center

The Kano State House of Assembly today, during its plenary session, received a letter from the Executive Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, requesting the House to consider and subsequently approve the establishment of the Kano State Center for Disease Control.

The letter, addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Isma’il Falgore, was read on the floor of the House by the Speaker. Part of the content of the letter stated that when established, the center would promptly address the prevailing disease outbreaks in the State. The House received the letter and is undergoing legislative treatment.

Similarly, the House has received a report from the House Standing Committee on Election matters regarding the screening of nominee Professor Sani Lawan Malumfashi for the appointment as Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission.

The report, read by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Lawan Hussaini Dala, stated that the committee found the nominee eligible and qualified for the appointment.

Part of the Committee’s recommendations stated that Professor Sani Lawan Malumfashi, based on his track records and in accordance with the Kano State Independent Electoral Law of 2001, is qualified for the said appointment.

Later, the Majority Leader of the House laid the report before the House.
