Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has exposed irregularities in the Ramadan Feeding Program following an unannounced inspection visit to one of the feeding center in Gidan Maza at Kano Municipal Local Government.
A statement released by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Friday, revealed the Governor’s disappointment with the program’s execution.
Governor Yusuf expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of program handlers, alleging they were depriving those intended to benefit from the initiative.
The statement emphasized the Governor’s stance on zero tolerance for dishonesty and mismanagement of public funds allocated for the program, highlighting that each center has meticulous documentation of allocated funds.
This surprise inspection follows intelligence reports suggesting deficiencies in the program’s management across various centers in Kano.
The Six billion naira feeding program, under the supervision of the deputy governor and several commissioners commenced the distribution on the eighth day of Ramadan.
The Governor’s visit raises concerns about the program’s effectiveness in reaching its intended beneficiaries and ensuring proper allocation of resources.
