Bassirou Diomaye Faye has officially been inaugurated as the fifth president of Senegal, succeeding Macky Sall in a historic ceremony held on Tuesday, April 2.
The event, witnessed by African leaders, unfolded in the new town of Diamniadio, adjacent to the capital city of Dakar.
In his solemn oath, Faye pledged before God and the Senegalese nation to faithfully execute the duties of the presidency.
He affirmed his commitment to upholding the constitution, laws, and defending the territorial integrity and national independence of Senegal.
Additionally, Faye expressed his determination to work tirelessly towards the realization of African unity.
The formal transfer of power from outgoing President Macky Sall will occur at the presidential palace in Dakar, marking a significant transition in the country’s leadership.
