The lifeless body of 7-year-old Khalifa Saminu Saleh was discovered at a water canal in the Kuruma community of Bunkure Local Government Area in Kano state on Monday morning, six days after he was kidnapped by unknown men.
Khalifa had been reported kidnapped a week ago in Rano local government, prompting an extensive search effort initiated by concerned authorities and residents.
The incident was reported to the Rano Police Station in Kano.
According to a resident who preferred anonymity, Khalifa was last seen on his way to the mosque to perform Salatul Tarawih prayers, a routine he followed closely as the mosque was situated near his family’s home.
“I know the boy very well, he is about 7 years old and he lived with his parents. His father (Alhaji Saminu Saleh) is a young businessman in Rano town,” the source shared.
Khalifa’s father, Alhaji Saminu Saleh, expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Khalifa, and also called for thorough investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding his son’s disappearance and death.
